HUMANS RIGHTS ISSUES

The issue of human rights and the general notion of philosophical rights has not been of central concern to me in my work in philosophy. However, it is a driving issue for my colleague at Webster University, Art Sandler. Below is a link to Art's home page. While it is mainly in construction, I know good things are coming. Despite my luke warm interest in the area, I have taught in it, and do have some nagging philosophical questions. I present some of them here.

• Art Sandler's Home Page    Art Sandler is working with others at Webster University to build a center for human rights studies. He is working to build a strong human rights connection, and currently has links to the AAAS Directory of Human Rights Resources on the Internet, and materials on the International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia. More will be coming.
• Human Rights in the country of Haiti   Various essays on human rights in Haiti which are housed in the Haiti section of my web site.
• The Problematic of Human Rights   An essay by Bob Corbett in which he explores the significance of a possible difference between negative and postive rights. His thesis is that they have a different philosophical roots, require a different path of justification and that it is not clear that these paths lead to the same conclusions.
