Dennis (1810-___) and Ellen "Nelly" Mullaly (1816-___ ) RYAN

married 2 August 1830 in Mullinahone, Tipperary, Ireland. They were the parents of seven children; one died in infancy, the following six lived to adulthood:


  • Alice RYAN (1831-___ ), married Patrick WOODS (1832-___ ) in 1852 at the Old Cathedral of St. Louis. They had three children: a son; Edward (1859-1859), and two daughters; Ann/Nell/Mary Helen (1860-1888), and Bridget (1852-1908)


  • Mary RYAN (1834-1920), married Philip QUINN (1840-1922) in 1860 in St. Louis. They had five children, four daughters; Honora (1860-1928), Mary Ann (1869-1891), Margaret (1876-1877) and Kate (1873-1955) and a son, Dennis (1864-1903).


  • Michael RYAN (1836-___ ).


  • Margaret RYAN (1840-1909), married Michael CARROLL (1837-1909) in 1861 at the Old Cathedral in St. Louis. They had 10 children, two died as infants: Joseph (1875-1876) and Robert (1882). Several other children died very young: Mary (1863-___), Johanna (1867-1894), Ellen (1872-1889), Margaret (1873-1892), Michael (1878- 1905), and Charles (1884-1910). However, two daughters, Bridget (1874-1945) and Elizabeth (1880-1958) never married, but lived to mature adulthood.


  • Edward J. "Ned" RYAN (1843-1915), married Maria KELLY (1847-1875) in 1867. She died suddenly at age 26 leaving four small children: Harry (1868-___ ), William (1870-___ ) Edward V.(1872-1943) and Anna (1874-1955). Ned realized he needed a mother for these children and married Bridget DUNN (1847-1917) in 1876 . They would have six children of their own; five who lived to adulthood; Maria (1877-1960), Timothy (1880-1959), Vincent (1882-1963), Margaret (1884-1973) and Joseph (1887-1969) and one who died as an infant (1879).


  • John RYAN - (1849-___ ) may have died as an infant in Ireland, his name was not listed with the others on the 1851 Passenger List arriving New Orleans, LA, USA
