In October 1999, the International Institute for Peace through Tourism (IIPT) held their Third Global Conference in Glasgow, Scotland. The conference theme was ‘Building Bridges of Peace, Culture & Prosperity Through Sustainable Tourism’. Two INMP members gave presentations at the conference: Hans Peter Kürten spoke about the Bridge of Remagen Peace Museum, and Peter van den Dungen spoke about peace tourism.

INMP members Ted Lollis and Peter van den Dungen later contributed a chapter each to a book entitled ‘International Handbook on Tourism and Peace’, published in 2014.
