15050: Sanba: Re:15044: Benodin: Declaration by the Presidency on behalf of theEur opean Union on Haiti (fwd)
From: sanba@juno.com
Right now the European Union should start attaching great importance to the respect for democratic values and the rule of law that should govern its relations not only with the ACP countries but with the like of the US, Great Britain and Israel. Why not?
Anyway, let's read on and see what the messenger likes to bring us:
[Since democracy had not been re-established in Haiti after the fraud in the May 2000 Senate elections, which favor the candidates of the "Fanmi Lavalas" party, the European Union renewed on 10 January 2003 the measures partially suspending its aid to Haiti.]
I would like to gauge the degree of fairness -to say the least- of the messenger since he is obviously the medium between the public and those decision makers. I would like to read his comment about how can the great President of the European Union feel so at ease to declare fraud in Haitian election, (for the first time should we say)but shy away from the blatant one in Florida, especially after three governments from the group have to noisily disagree with the bullyish manner of the Floridexan beneficiary against the entire world.
[However, it is continuing with those cooperation programmes that directly benefit the people.]
Could the messenger ask in what term those aids benefit the people? or if too embarrassing could he tell us his view of the people?
Another pearl:
[The European Union notes that it is the responsibility of the
authorities to protect democratic pluralism, freedom of expression and
individual rights.]
Should very appropriately follow: and that of the Convergence the Union is backing up to derail every effort to achieve this goal. Simple question of honesty.
I spare the reader to further consideration that expose the hypocrisy of the Union and its President.
