The FIRST St. James Church St. James was founded
as a mission of St. Malachy's Church in 1860. Early on Richard Tobin built the first church and
it burned in 1891.
The "Old" Church and Rectory in 1897 This is cardboard card which
advertised a mission being given at St. James. This is the earliest photo I know of,
and contains the boundaries of the parish, which was just huge!
The "Old" Church This was the second
church in St. James and was built around 1891. It was torn down in the 1950s.
The "Old" Rectory This was
on Tamm Ave. just at the corner of Wade (the east portion of Wade). It was built around 1891.
It was torn down in the 1951s.
